Overview

Program description:
The objective of the program is to train engineers who, based on their knowledge in fundamental sciences of structure, properties and behavior of materials (e.g. ceramics and silicates, polymers and plastics, chemical technologies) are able to design and operate technologies and to carry out research projects and development activities.
Available specializations: polymer engineering and chemical technology

In the frame of the high-standard, full-time Materials Engineering MSc program students are not only provided with a thorough theoretical foundation but emphasis is also put on improving their engineering skills through the Faculty’s active and extensive relations with top companies.

The widely recognized Materials Engineering program is particularly useful for the next generation of factory/plant engineers and chemical technological engineers as it represents a deep, theoretical and practical knowledge of the given specialization.

It is a unique training with a focus on polymer engineering and chemical technological engineering (which are the two specializations of the MSc program).

Materials engineers are able to develop different polymer materials, composites, they can manage the recycling of the polymer materials as well.

Entrance exam description:
Following the formal check of uploaded documents, the Entrance Examination Committee of the Faculty requests the candidate to report on his/her professional background and motivation related to the study field, which is followed by a Skype interview.

Career opportunities

With the MSc degree in Materials Engineering, you can fill positions all over the world that require highly qualified professionals, like factory/plant engineering, chemical engineering, or self-employed engineering in an enterprise. Thanks to the specializations, our graduated students can find a job in the chemical industry, with polymer specialization the main focus of the job could be the development and recycling of polymers. The possible job area with the chemical technological engineering specialization can be found in the field of development of chemical compounds, environmental protection, recycling of waste materials, etc.

Material engineers deal with the structure, properties and usability of the materials found in our objects of use and high-tech devices around us, examine and classify the materials, and develop and operate innovative technologies.
Our graduates work for successful domestic and international small, medium and large companies, including in the driving sectors of Europe, such as the internationally competitive automotive and chemical industries.
